Born in Valencia, Spain and currently a New York resident, Daphne Lage has been drawing for as long as she can remember. Inspired by the work of Walt Disney, it was her first dream to become an animator but the want for an animation career switched to comics as she entered high school.

At the High School of Art and Design, she met writer JD Calderon. He had started his own comic book company and was looking for an artist who could draw animal-people for his comic TALL TAILS. It was through this effort that Daphne learned to take advantage of the comics medium and decided she was going to be a comic book illustrator.

At the School of Visual Arts Daphne entered under the tutelage of comic book legend, Will Eisner. She began her publishing career in 1993 with a short illustrated story in the college publication WILL EISNER'S GALLERY and later that year REVELATIONS, her first actual comic in which TALL TAILS debuted. TALL TAILS, now on its 20th issue with Volume 4 of the collected trade scheduled for release this summer, is currently published by Dream Weaver Press.
