JD began his comics career as a freelance illustrator on Dark Horse Comics' Universal Monsters: Dracula; a fully painted graphic novel. Next, he shifted gears, fell in love with the mac and moved into computer coloring for Top Cow Productions on various titles such as Witchblade, Tomb Raider and Fathom.

Smith's also worked for Marvel on Ultimate Spider-Man and Uncanny X-Men among others. Currently you can see his work in Black Panther #23-25 (part of the Civil War saga) and upcoming on a few select projects for DC.

I was just remembering the time Mike brought over a poster size print of Fathom #1 and after be in awe of the colors, I was scared to ask how long did it take, flatting must have been 24hrs by itself!

If you're talking about the one where she's underwater with every kind of sea life imaginable in there, yeah that piece took FOREVER.

After working on that piece my flatters wanted more money. Mike definitely had a tendency to go nuts on the detail. Fathom was a good time though. I enjoyed working on that book.

How ya been, man?
I've been hanging in there. STILL working on that Bisley book. But it'll be wrapped up in time for release this summer.

One of my resolutions for this year was to be better about returning emails... guess I'm not doing so well with that one.
Great to hear from you.
