About Me (as in I, not You)

A web developer by trade, my family of four live in rural West Virginia, along with pets Dalamar, Jenna, Scooby-Doo, Arnold Swarzenporky, Salem, and Fiddle.

Really. Our collective geek-dom knows no bounds.

I've been a comics fan since age seven or so, when I was introduced to the likes of the Hulk, Spider-Man and Green Lantern. Been in and out of the hobby since, having been in again since 2005 or so, after a sabbatical of nearly a decade.

Comics have changed. For the good, mostly.

Oh, and tons of stuff is collected in trade or hardcover anymore, which is why I developed (and still develop)...

wait for it...

The Graphic Novel Archive!

Some of the GNA goodness:

It's big. It's real big.
A ginormous bibliographical index of over 10,000+ graphic novel editions. Perhaps the largest independent index of it's kind on the 'net today. (Or if not, it should be, 'cause it's pretty damn big and took a long time to put together.)

You decide.
The GNA understands your fickleness. If you're a manga fan, you may not appreciate American and European comics. Or vice versa. So the GNA let's you set your preference and ignore the stuff you're not into. Cool, eh?

It's green and it tastes like paper.
Do you like money? More importantly, does your significant other like money? Help alleviate your guilt and make reparations for your past selfish acts with the GNA's custom-built graphic novel comparison shopper. Bill Gates uses it, and look at all the money he has. *

Opinions are like...
Thousands of graphic novel review and preview links, so if you're looking for another opinion (re-view), or looking to create an opinion of your own (pre-view), the GNA has got ya covered.

You gotta wear shades.
A massive release schedule, shipping updates, the latest solicitations - if you've got an eye set on the future of sequential art story telling, you're gonna appreciate the GNA's knack for sequential art fortune telling. (Oh gods, was that awful.)

Your GNA with MyGNA.
Wanna track your graphic novel collection? Done. What about building a graphic novel wish list? Done. How about monitoring the online prices of hard to find, out of print graphic novels, notifying you via e-mail when the price drops within the range you're willing to pay so you won't have to sell your last kidney? Yeah, done. It's called MyGNA. It's free. You're welcome.

Because You Are Awesome.
Do you like graphic novels? No, I mean, really like them? Because the GNA is always looking for contributing editors who can lend a helping hand in building the Internet's best, biggest, most comprehensive graphic novel resource on the 'net. Anyone can contribute, and you'll earn points. Everyone loves points. Points can lead to prizes. Everyone really loves prizes.

Let's Discuss.
Just added! I figured it a good idea to have some place for GNA contributing editors and visitors to get together and discuss stuff about the GNA web site. Y'know; tech support, ideas and feature requests, questions and answers, and even some friendly conversation. And since my house ain't exactly big enough (nor my wife that accommodating **), I put together the GNA's own community discussion forums. Feel free to stop by and introduce yourself!

Time To Say Goodbye.
That's the Graphic Novel Archive in a nutshell, folks. Well worth the visit, especially if you think comics that can stand on their own are wicked cool.

Dub dub dub Graphic Novel Archive dot com. Fini.

Jeff

* Bill Gates doesn't really use it. Or he might. I don't know. I doubt it though. He's rich and probably doesn't have to.

** She's actually very nice. But she hates it when folks arrive uninvited. Don't tell her I said that.

I completely agree. I don't get enough time to go to comic shops every month, so a complete story via a graphic novrl is the way to go for me. I got fed up having issues 1, 2 and 4 of so many series, and never getting hold of issue 3. AAAARGH!

Merry X-Mas from the Illustrator's Lounge by the way!

I have a number of comic runs where I'm missing an issue or two - yeah, definitely a buzz-kill. Though, I find I have some missing volumes in my graphic novel series as well. It never ends.

And hey, a merry belated Christmas. VERY belated. :)

Thanks! Yeah, graphic novels make up most of my comic collecting anymore. Besides, it's much easier pulling something off a bookshelf than digging thru many a comic box. :-)

Thanks Chris. I have to say, your podcast inspires me to keep working on the GNA from week to week.

Folks, if you haven't already, give Chris' Collected Comics Library blog and podcast a look!

Dude, I have to send the kudos back your way! Your site kicks A$$ too! I love ComicSpace because it really is brining all of us together to find great sites that we might never have found!

Thanks for the add.... went to GNA, what an awesome resource! I owned a comic shop for 12 years and when I gave it up I also gave up buying the monthly periodicals but have tried to keep up through the trades. Now I am finding resources like yours that help me figure out what to buy and what order to read them in. Thanks for the hard work!

Yeah, I'm a huge fan. I drive people nuts at the video store I work at because it's all I watch the whole time I'm there.
