First things first. The art you see is a character named Cascade.

My friends over at Zeus turned me on to comics. I been reading them for about two years now and I must admit that I am enamored. I am prone to pick up anything by Warren Ellis, Elizabeth Watasin, Steve Niles, Gail Simone, Greg Rucka, Lea Hernandez, David Hopkins, Serena Valentino and Paul Pope. I am drawn to the art of Ben Templesmith, James O’Barr, Bernie Wrightson, Brock Rizie and Brian Denham. The majority of my “comic” reading however, is done with the smaller press titles…How Loathsome, Avigone, Spooked, Torso and of course, Ufuoma Urie’s shorts…are you seeing the trend here?

I also am a poet, a diver, a motorcyclist and, like a lot of people here, a writer. I am working on (and have been working on) a graphic novel surrounding the adventures of MochaCaliGirl. I do hope to have her published soon. I am studying web development/web design at a local college in anticipation of a career change. I do lots of other things but this space is about comics….right?

I feel the need to say this about adding friends. I do visit the site of each and every person before I add them. If there is a link to a blog, I will take the time to read it, or some portion of it as well. I say this because I am not out to have a gazillion friends on this site…just a few who have read, write, draw and love comics.

Hi, V-
Thanks for looking for me here and adding me to your list of friends. While we met only recently, it's been a pleasure.

Hi Mocha,

Thanks for the add. For someone who sounds like a relatively recent convert to comics, you have a great selection of artist/writers you follow. Ellis, Templesmith, Obarr, Pope, Hernandez. Great names.

I'm not familiar with the smaller indies you mention, I'll surf for them at my earliest convenience but maybe if you get a sec, you can add a link or two.

If strong into Indies listen to some of the podcasts I list in my profile. Particularly Indie Spinner Rack, those guys keep me laughing, while also being informative.

Anyhow thanks again for the add, and look forward to checking out your Graphic Novel. Till later, be well.

p.s. I completely agree with your profile. As you can tell, like you I'm not on here to add people to be adding them(I don't have the time to do anything effectively with a thousand people, but fifty... fifty I can just about manage :) ). Instead I'm looking for other creative, in motion people to network with and learn from. And you qualify :). Have a great one!

I have the guys at Zeus to blame for my reading good titles. They know my tastes and keep me going in the right direction.

When the feature allowing us to list our faves is up I will post links to the indies I like...

I'll take you up on your podcast list. Downloading as we speak.

Thank YOU for the add as well...and have a kewl day!
